O.T.I.S. Donates $42,000 to Support Facility Dog Programs, Reaching $77,000 in Total Donations
Supporting Children’s Healing, One Donation at a Time
Did you know your dog’s favorite treat could be helping children heal from trauma? At O.T.I.S., we believe in the power of paws! Since launching in April 2023, we have been on a mission to make a difference. Thanks to the support of dog lovers everywhere, we’ve raised $77,000 to fund hospital facility dog programs that bring comfort, joy, and healing to kids facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Our latest donation of $42,000 to three incredible programs shows just how far a simple treat can go when it comes with a purpose.
Healing Hearts with Four-Legged Friends
The $42,000 donation has been distributed to three impactful programs that align closely with our mission:
-
Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Animal-Assisted Activities Program: This program allows patients, families, and staff to interact with therapy dogs and handlers, helping to reduce stress and bring comfort to those undergoing difficult medical journeys. Therapy dogs can play a significant role in normalizing the hospital environment, making it a less intimidating place for children and their families.
-
Stanford Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital’s Pet Assisted Therapy Services (PATS): This facility dog program helps motivate patients to achieve their healthcare goals, reduces stress during hospital stays, and makes over 50 visits per month, reaching more than 1,800 patients annually. The presence of these facility dogs helps create a more positive and welcoming environment for patients, significantly impacting their emotional and physical well-being.
-
Canine Assistants Service Dog Puppy Sponsorship Program: Known for training facility dogs from the puppy stage, Canine Assistants matches facility dogs with handlers and helps to place them in hospitals. Each dog’s training costs $35,000, underscoring the importance of financial support to continue this valuable work. We are excited to continue our commitment by sponsoring a facility dog puppy. Over the next two years, our total contribution toward Canine Assistants will reach $35,000, supporting the puppy's journey to becoming a fully trained facility dog.
More Than Just Treats: A Mission-Driven Company
O.T.I.S. was founded not just to create high-quality dog treats but to make a difference. Named after a real dog named Otis, whose calming presence inspired the company’s mission, O.T.I.S. stands for “Overcoming Trauma, Inspiring Survivors.” Otis, the company’s Chief Canine Officer and mascot, symbolizes the healing power of dogs, particularly for children who have experienced trauma.
From our Bison Jerky Treats to Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil, all O.T.I.S. products are crafted with care, using all-natural ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. But the company’s mission extends beyond pets—it’s about helping dogs help kids, creating a ripple effect of healing that reaches hospitals, families, and communities.
Making Every Purchase Count
Our commitment is clear: one dollar from every product sold goes directly to facility dog programs. In the first six months of our operation, we raised $10,000 for these programs, and by our first anniversary, we had donated another $25,000. This year alone, we have contributed an additional $42,000.
As research continues to support the benefits of animal-assisted therapy in reducing pain, anxiety, and promoting recovery, we aim to raise awareness and increase demand for these valuable programs.
